Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is approaching the end of its unusual mobile journey. Konami's side-scrolling Castlevania adventure will no longer be available to download through Apple Arcade from August 20, with service scheduled to end completely on September 3. The game has already survived one apparent death: an earlier version was cancelled before the project later found a second life as an Apple Arcade exclusive without the free-to-play monetisation systems associated with its original release.

Grimoire of Souls offered a mobile interpretation of classic Castlevania exploration and combat, with familiar characters appearing across a side-scrolling structure influenced by the main series. Its closure once again highlights the preservation problem surrounding service-dependent mobile games. When a conventional premium title disappears from a shop, existing owners may still retain access; when an online service shuts down entirely, the game itself can effectively vanish.

Unless Konami prepares an offline edition, September 3 may become the final opportunity to play Grimoire of Souls in any official form. Apple Arcade subscribers interested in experiencing it should therefore install the game before tomorrow's removal.
